Dott. JOHN PUGH MP MARGARET HEBBLETHWAITE     Questa petizione sarà presentata da uno dei vescovi della Conferenza Episcopale di Inghilterra e Galles durante l’incontro del prossimo novembre Siamo sulla scia del grande successo ottenuto in Australia, dove circa 17.000 cattolici (su un totale di popolazione cattolica pari a 5,3 milioni) hanno firmato la petizione e l’hanno sottoposta all’attenzione del loro vescovo. E’ stata promossa lì da uno scrittore e giornalista cattolico di fama, Paul Collins, e vi hanno aderito molti preti così come alcuni vescovi.

Maureen Robinson ha preso una simile iniziativa per l’Inghilterra e il Galles e la petizione è stata sottoscritta da numerose organizzazioni come Movement for a Married Clergy, Catholics for a Changing Church, We Are Church UK, Catholic Women’s Ordination e da diversi soggetti singoli.Stiamo cercando di raggiungere il numero massimo di adesioni prima di sottoporla ai vescovi.   Vi chiediamo di stamparla e di raccogliere quante più firme possibili. Le firme devono essere inviate poi all’indirizzo specificato nella comunicazione del 1 settembre 2008.   DOMENICA PER LA PETIZIONE

Abbiamo individuato come data di raccolta firme, Domenica 29 giugno 2008, solennità di S. Pietro e Paolo, e speriamo che molte parrocchie diano l’annuncio durante le messe e contribuiscano alla raccolta firme. In preparazione alla "domenica per la petizione" cercheremo di contattare il clero, le parrocchie e i media.

This petition will be presented by one of the bishops to the Conference of Bishops of England and Wales at their meeting in November 2008.   We are following the great success in Australia where almost 17,000 Catholics (of a total Catholic population of 5.3 million) signed the petition and submitted it to their bishops for consideration. Promoted there by well- known Catholic writer and broadcaster, Paul Collins, it was supported by many priests and some of the bishops.

Maureen Robinson took the initiative for England and Wales, and the Petition is now being taken up by a number of organisations including the Movement for a Married Clergy, Catholics for a Changing Church, We Are Church UK, Catholic Women’s Ordination and many individuals. We are seeking the maximum number of signatures to present to the bishops.   We ask that you print it off and collect as many signatures as possible from fellow Catholics. Signatures need to be posted to the address given on the formby 1 September 2008.   PETITION SUNDAY 

As a nationwide focus we are promoting Sunday 29th of June 2008, the Solemnity of Peter & Paul as ’Petition Sunday’ when we hope as many parishes as possible will announce the petition at mass and collect signatures. As a prelude to ‘Petition Sunday’ a variety of approaches will be made to clergy, parishes and the media.
