Annuncio di un Congresso della Federazione Nord Atlantica per un Presbiterato Rinnovato a Vienna, 6-9 novembre, 2008

A seguito di una riunione del Comitato Esecutivo che si è tenuta nell’Abbazia Benedettina di Douai, Inghilterra alla fine di novembre 2007, La Federazione Nord Atlantica per un Presbiterato Rinnovato ha annunciate che terrà un congresso a Vienna nel novembre 2008.

Fondata a Wiesbaden, Germania nell’agosto 2004, La Federazione Nord Atlantica per un Presbiterato Rinnovato è un gruppo di preti cattolici sposati che includono Corpus Canada, Corpus US e altri gruppi in Austria, Belgio, Repubblica Ceca, Ungheria, India, Irlanda e Paesi Bassi.

La Federazione ritiene che sia necessario un rinnovamento radicale del ministero presbiterale che vada ben al di là dell’abolizione del celibate obbligatorio e della riammissione dei preti sposati nel ministero attivo. Per questa ragione ha accolto al suo interno anche la Conferenza Statunitense per l’Ordinazione delle Donne.

Il congresso previsto a Vienna si terrà in un centro congressi dal 6 al 9 novembre 2008. Il tema è “Un futuro per il Popolo di Dio - Un servizio che risponda alle esigenze”. Sono stati invitati a parlare un gran numero di oratori.

Riconoscendo lo sviluppo del ministero laico nella Chiesa Cattolica e l’urgenza di abbandonare sia il celibato obbligatorio che l’esclusione delle donne dal ministero ordinato, NAF ritiene che debbano essere previste nuove forme di ordinazione in cui non ci sia spazio per il clericalismo, il patriarcato o l’abuso di potere.

L’esecutivo di NAF si incontrerà a Ottawa nel maggio 2008 per portare avanti l’organizzazione del Congresso di Vienna.

Announcement of a Congress of the North Atlantic Federation for a Renewed Catholic Priesthood ...in Vienna, Austria on November 6-9, 2008

Following an Executive Meeting held at the Benedictine Abbey in Douai, England, in late November 2007, the North Atlantic Federation for a Renewed Catholic Priesthood announced that the Federation will hold a Congress in Vienna, Austria in November 2008.

Founded at a meeting in Wiesbaden, Germany in August 2003, the North Atlantic Federation for a Renewed Catholic Priesthood is a grouping of married Catholic priests including Corpus (National Capital Region) in Canada, CORPUS U.S.A., and groups in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Hungary, India, Ireland and the Netherlands.

The Federation believes that a radical renewal of the ministerial priesthood is needed which goes far beyond the abandonment of mandatory celibacy for the clergy and the re-admission to public ministry of married priests. For this reason it has recently welcomed into membership the U.S. Women’s Ordination Conference.

The Congress planned for Vienna will take place at a Convention site in that city from November 6 to 9, 2008. The theme of the Congress is "A Future for God’s People - Service Responding to Needs". A number of notable speakers are being invited to address the delegates.

Recognizing the growth in lay ministries in the Catholic Church and the urgent need to right the injustices of mandatory celibacy and the exclusion of women from ordained ministry, the NAF believes that new forms of ordained ministry must be developed, where clericalism, patriarchy and power abuse have no place.

The NAF Executive will meet again in Ottawa in May of 2008 to continue planning for the Vienna Congress.
